SMS Terms & Conditions

Plain-English version: if you give us your mobile number, we’ll text you occasional alerts about the fight to protect Cedar Creek Lake. We never charge you, we never sell your number, and you can stop any time by replying STOP.

Effective June 6, 2026

About this program

The Save Cedar Creek Lake text messaging program (the “Program”) is operated by Save Cedar Creek Lake, a volunteer coalition of lake residents, business owners, and Henderson County neighbors. By opting in, you agree to these SMS Terms & Conditions. These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle the information you share with us.

How to opt in

You join the Program by giving us your mobile number and checking the box to receive text alerts on one of our sign-up forms, or by texting us to join. By doing so you confirm that you are the account holder or have the account holder’s permission, and that you are at least 16 years old. We will only text the number you give us, for the purposes described below.

What you’ll receive

Once you opt in, you’ll get occasional text alerts about the campaign to keep large-scale data centers off our water, our grid, and our county roads. Messages may include:

  • Reminders before public votes and comment deadlines;
  • Meeting and hearing notices;
  • Campaign news and important updates; and
  • Volunteer and action requests, such as yard-sign coordination.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. You’ll generally receive no more than a few messages per week, though frequency may increase around key votes, hearings, and deadlines.

Cost & carrier rates

We never charge you to receive texts. However, message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan and carrier. Check with your carrier if you’re unsure about your plan’s rates. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to opt out

You can cancel the Program at any time. Reply STOP to any message you receive from us, and we will stop sending you texts. After you reply STOP, you may receive a single confirmation message letting you know you’ve been unsubscribed. To rejoin later, simply opt in again.

How to get help

Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or email us any time at savecedarcreeklake@gmail.com. A volunteer will respond.

Consent is never required

You don’t have to receive texts to take part in the campaign. Opting in to text messages is never a condition of joining the fight or anything else — email-only is always fine.

Your privacy

Your mobile number is used only to send you the alerts described above. We never sell, rent, or share your mobile number with advertisers, political action committees, candidates, or anyone else for marketing. The only parties who handle your number are the trusted messaging providers we use to actually deliver the texts. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Supported carriers

The Program is available on most major U.S. mobile carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to your carrier’s network availability, and we cannot guarantee that every message will be delivered.

Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change to these terms, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing in the Program after a change means you accept the updated terms.
