Diode has pulled out.

We have news worth celebrating. After months of packed meetings, thousands of signatures, and a community that refused to look away, Diode Ventures has pulled out of its plan to draw millions of gallons a day from Cedar Creek Lake.

This did not happen on its own. It happened because you showed up: in the rain, at the microphone, at your kitchen table writing letters to Austin. Every yard sign, every signature, every neighbor you brought along made us harder to ignore. Thank you to everyone who joined the fight.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to County Judge Wade McKinney and the Henderson County Commissioners Court (Wendy Spivey, Scott Tuley, Charles McHam, and Mark Richardson) for the seriousness and integrity with which they approached this matter. Judge McKinney and the commissioners fulfilled their responsibility to every Henderson County resident, not as advocates for any one side, but as responsible stewards of this community’s resources, its future, and its right to have a voice in decisions that affect both. They listened. They engaged. They did their jobs with professionalism and respect for all parties and for the rule of law. Henderson County is well served by its leadership.

Responsible development in Henderson County is and always has been welcome. What this community asked for, and what the county supported, was transparency, accountability, and a process that respects the people who live here. That is not opposition to development. That is what good governance looks like.

When neighbors stand together, a small community can move mountains, and hold back a straw the size of a city.
